Bill and Andrea Bujnowski have been attending and help-ing with several "Behind the Walls" prison events in California. They are seeing a hunger for God and His salvation in the in-mates. Your prayers and contributions are appreciated.
We're not having the usual, all church gathering this year for the National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday of May. It makes us sad. As long as Mike and Carrie Benning were organizing it, we did it, but when they retired no one else stepped up. Therefore, this Thursday, May 4th, in our church at 4:30 pm, we will pray for our nation, our families, our leaders, our pastors, our first responders, our teachers, and our nation as a whole.
The new church addition is going up. PTL! And, as it goes up so do the costs of construction. You may have noticed the "Giving Thermometer" in our entryway. Thanks so much for all that you've given to this point. We as a church are grateful. Now, each of us need to prayerfully consider raising the thermometer with our contributions. God bless.
There's a large water bottle change collector at the back of our church where anyone can contribute to our building program. No gift is too small. Let's fill the bottle, and the next one, and the one after that. Your pocket change will make a difference. Thanks.
Yes, it's that time of year again when we start getting the "planting itch." But, don't let the warmer weather fool you. It's the rule of thumb that up here in the mountains at the 6300 foot elevation, we don't plant until after Mother's Day.
One June, in the first week, I had my garden wiped out by a frost. Yes, it's discouraging, but we learn from these experiences. I guess it's that way with life generally. We cope the best we can with the information that we have.
What's amazing to me is that God's nature knows by instinct how to live, and when to act, like the hummingbirds. They arrive on a schedule that's not determined by them, but by God's divine time.
"Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow" (James 1.17).
So, we plant our gardens, and we expect to harvest a crop. Farmers have followed this assurance for generations, even in the face of surprise frosts, turbulent weather, and unexpected earth events because God is faithful.
Most amazing of all is that we can plant our seeds and add water and they sprout and grow into the vegetables we love. I'm reminded of this miracle every year when I plant my garden and when I stand in the produce section of Safeway.
Thanks be to God who sustains the birds of the air, and clothes the lilies of the field, and breathes life into our gardens each year (Matt.7.26-29).
