We will be having a time of baptism in our morning service on Sunday, April 11th. If you have not been baptized this is a golden opportunity. Jesus gave us the example and the commandment to be baptized as believers (Matt.13-17; 28.19). This act of obedience is necessary for our spiritual growth, our initiation into the body of Christ, and for our identity as Christians. Please contact Pastors Tom or Jim with your decision.
We're adding another shed behind our church building. It will be used for storage which is becoming a pressing need. The existing shed will be returned to a classroom which was its original purpose. You may want to contribute to the new shed's purchase. We're trying to meet the needs of our church with a steady, conservative advance while always honoring the Lord.
NHCF has three Shepherding Groups that meet on Wednesday evenings: one in our church with Pastor Tom and Terry Lowry, one at Roger Brown's house, and one at Chris Lewis' house. We pray and study God's Word, but just as important, we have fellowship together where we build relationships and learn to "bear one another's burdens."
This weekend we are celebrating the essence of Christianity: Jesus Christ, crucified, buried and rising again from the dead. This is the gospel (1 Cor.15.3 5). It is the "good news" of God's great love for us that He should come
personally to pay the price for our sins. Glory!
Think about it. What's wrong with mankind? Isn't it the fact that we continue to sin against God and our neighbors? Yes, sin is the problem, and Jesus is the solution. "By HIs stripes we are healed" (Isa. 53.5). Healed of what? We're healing from the worst of infections: sin.
"Sin is lawlessness" (1 Jn.3.4). It's not just breaking the law of Go d, but living in a spirit of disobedience. Samuel tells King Saul that "disobedience is as the sin of witchcraft" (1 Sam.15.23). Jesus obeyed t he Father perfectly, "who for
the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Heb.12.2). "Not my will but Thine be done" (Luke 22.42).
That's the reason that the resurrection is so important. It's important because Jesus, as the second Adam, received the Father's approval. "He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you" (Rom.8.11).
We live in "the power of the resurrection" (Phil.3.10). We are redeemed and sanctified by the shed blood of Jesus, whose sinless life was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. Happy Easter.
