TONIGHT, at 6:00 pm. Our church is hosting the regular "Singspiration." This is a great time for our various churches to get together, sing, share and have fellowship. We need the Christian community to pull together and love one another.
Please bring a “goodie” to share.
This coming "Labor Day Weekend" there's a fund raiser for the White Mountain Coalition Against Homelessness." It'll be held at the WML Swap Meeting grounds Friday and Saturday, 9/3-4 There'll be food, games and entertainment. All funds will be donated to the WMCAH.
Everyone is in need of prayer, and there are times when nothing else will bring comfort. Our church has put in place two "prayer rooms" off the chapel platform at the prompting of the Spirit. At the end of our church service, as the Spirit leads you, come forward for prayer. We're here as a family to pray and care for you.
Need we remind you to be prepared for conditions that may catch us by surprise? Pastor Tom printed a pamphlet on "Christian Preparedness," and it was passed out not long ago. Advice was given to have on hand water, storable foods, essentials like artificial lighting, toilet paper and medicines. There's more, but of first priority is to be prayed-up. God is our protector and our shield.
We get so wrapped-up in our national government that we forget to "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness" (Matt. 6.33). After all, God's government is the only true government because there won't be peace on earth until God is King.
Kingship is hard for us to understand. We fought a revolutionary war to defeat England and get out from under the rule of King George. Wherever we find kings in history, we also find tyranny and oppression. Yet, God is King. He told Samuel, "They have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them" (1 Sam.8.7). In that day, the day of judgment and recreation, Jesus will be King of kings and Lord of lords" (1 Tim.6.15; Rev. 19.16). He who is the "blessed and only Sovereign" will take back the creation from the dominion of man.
God gave the creation to us at the beginning. He gave our ancestor Adam "rule" over the whole earth (Gen.1.26). Adam handed it off to Satan when he dishonored God and failed to obey Him. So, kings and kingship have been spoiled ever since.
You may have noticed, especially if you study history, that men have favored kings and kingdoms. Why? Because we know innately that God is King, and we try to duplicate His kingdom on earth. Unfortunately, we fail. And in the last days, there will be one who rises up to be king of the nations. We call him "the antichrist" (2 Thess.2.3-12). He will bring peace for a season, and then carnage and slavery.
Be alert church. Don't put your trust in any world leader, no matter how good he looks.
