We are sad to report that Loretta passed away on Thursday, December 23rd at 10:00 am after a long hospital siege with the virus. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Jerry and her family. Loretta was our church prayer warrior, and we are grateful for her diligent reporting, prayer and care for those sick and in need. She's also missed as our church bookkeeper, Bible teacher and surrogate mother to several of our people. Thanks Loretta; may you be blessed in the presence of our Lord Jesus.
Pastor Tom has prepared a testimony dealing with the current sickness in our church and our faith response. You can get a copy off of the table in the church entryway.
Remember to pray the prayer and then thank God and praise Him for answering it.
Last Sunday our church had its annual budget meeting. Budget summaries were passed out and discussed. These are available for any who did not get one, and if anyone wants to see the full line by line budget you can get one from Lora. We agreed by consensus on the proposed budget of $131,715.00 for 2022.

It's the day after Christmas, a Sunday, and we need to keep "the spirit of Christmas" in our hearts. Why? Because the coming year does not promise to be an enjoyable one at the moment.
"The spirit of Christmas" is "the good news of great joy" (Luke 2.10). It's the good news of Christ our Savior, who gave Himself an atonement for our sins. We may have tribulation, but when we have Jesus, we have "the joy of the Lord" (John 15.11)...for "Jesus has overcome the world" (John 16.33).
It's good for us to remember His humble beginning was a sign of the life of service that Jesus lived, but at the same time, He had the backing of heaven. Even the devil knew that quoting Scripture to Jesus, "He will give His angels charge concerning You..." (Matt.4.6b). Jesus told Pilate, "If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting that I might not be delivered to the Jews..." (John 18.36).
You see, Christmas brings together the supernatural with the natural. It brings a star, the host of heaven, and kings of the east to a small village of Bethlehem. That the earthly and the heavenly should meet together there is unusual.
So, should we be surprised as the year unfolds that tribulation is held at bay by "good news of great joy?" Certainly, life on this planet is often difficult, and we sometimes wonder about the trials we go through, but the babe in the manager overcomes it all.
Peter writes, "Therefore, gird your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Pt.1.13).
