STAFF meeting TOMORROW @ 4:30 at Pastor Tom’s
We have three Shepherding Groups: Pastor Tom's, at church; Roger Brown's, at his home, and Lee Copeland, at the Salvation Army. These groups build relationships, give Bible instruction, and lift up prayer for those in need. Consider joining one of these groups. Thanks.
We now have a "Donation Button" on our church website. Donate online. Go to nhcfshowlow.church and follow the simple directions. Thanks.
All are invited to stay after church today for our annual Valentine's potluck and celebration. It's a time to agree together in love and to fellowship around a meal, common fun, and the joy that we have in Christ. Thanks to all who have decorated, cooked and prepared the program. You are loved and appreciated.
The new church addition is underway. The building permit is issued, contractors are in place, and the footers are dug with steel set. Concrete will be poured this week, and the foundation will rise up out of the ground. PTL! Keep praying this project through its completion. Thanks.
Waiting
Waiting requires some grit. We're anxious, and we want things to happen "now," but that's not the way this world works, and it's also true of God. The singing group Petra modified Psalm 40 to sing:
"I waited for the LORD on high; I waited, and He heard my cry" (Ps.40.1-3).
We've been waiting on the Lord for our building project. It seems like an eternity, and especially with all the interference from NavCo., but now the foundation is going into the ground. PTL! Psalm 40 continues: "He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God..." (40.3). In the waiting, there's time for meditation, for thinking through our motives and our desires. There's time to check in with God.
We don't always get what we wait for. I've been praying and waiting on the Lord to heal and restore my friend Mark Clements. Instead, the Lord took him home. I return to the Psalms where I read: "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth" (46.10). Again, "Make me know Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, for Thou art the God of my salvation; for Thee I wait all the day" (Ps.25.4,5).
Waiting is a spiritual discipline. And, yes, it's difficult, but in the time it takes, good things can happen because we move out of the way and give God His rightful place in our lives. I'm waiting on the Lord. Are you?
