College Revivals

There's a real revival going on among college students at Asbury College in Kentucky. The same is happening at the University of Georgia, Texas Tech and Iowa State College. Pray for them; the students are rejecting the "woke" curriculums and seeking God.

Easter Choir Practice

Our Easter Choir is practicing after church worship each Sunday now until Easter. Please consider joining them. Giving your voice to song is one way of serving the Lord, who "dwells in the praises of His people."

Pray for Turkey and Syria's People

Do you realize that as of this date, some 56,000 people have died in the Turkey-Syrian earthquake. There were two severe quakes nine hours apart. Many Christians died. Pray.

Jail Training

NHCF people have been visiting in the Navajo County Jail for a long time. It's something Jesus told us to do (Matt.25.36). There'll be a jail training on March 6th from 1 - 3 pm, and again on March 10th from 9 - 11 am. Please consider attending. No obligation. Be Spirit led.

Donate to the Building Fund

The new addition will cost upwards of $180,000. Thanks to many, dedicated NHCF people, we have a large percentage of that amount saved; however, your prayerful support is needed along the way to complete it. Designate your gift to "the building fund." Thanks.

Lent

Wednesday was "Ash Wednesday," and the beginning of Lent. And, no, Lent is not what you remove from your drier filter.

You may wonder why we, as Protestant Christians would be interested in Lent. Good question. Well, there is much in the Roman Catholic faith that deserves our attention, and especially, the lenten call to confession, repentance, fasting and self-inspection before celebration of Easter.

Please remember the Christian Church was Catholic for fifteen centuries before the Protestant Reformation in 1517. All the Church Fathers were Catholic: Clements, Ignatius, Polycarp, Origin, Aquinas and Augustine. You may not know it, but we owe these men a great debt of gratitude for their faithful ministries of the Word.

During the 40 days of Lent, we are encouraged to give up worldly faire and concentrate on spiritual things as we approach Easter. This includes prayer and fasting, the reading of Scripture, and in particular, the Gospels. It was during this time that our Lord Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by the devil (Matt.4.1).

It's worthwhile for us to remember Peter's words to the church during this time: "As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy'"
(1 Pt. 1.14-16).
