Join a Shepherding Group

We have three Shepherding Groups: Pastor Tom's, at church; Roger Brown's, at his home, and Lee Copeland, at the Salvation Army. These groups build relationships, give Bible instruction, and lift up prayer for those in need. Consider joining one of these groups. Thanks.

The New Church Directory for 2023 is being printed. PTL! It will soon be available to our NHCF people. Thanks to all who put in their time and effort to get this done, and in particular to Candy Greenwood, Lora Slater, Margaret Brown and Rondi Vinnedge.

Valentines Potluck

This coming Sunday, February 12th right after church, we'll be celebrating Valentine's Day with a potluck dinner and program. Please plan on staying and sharing in the fellowship. Remember, men, the Superbowl does not start until 4 o'clock. Let's join in our love for one another first at church.

Praise Be to God!

PTL! After months of plan rewriting, and negotiation on a sprinkler system, and debating architectural stamps, etc., etc., we've finally been given our building permit for the new addition. Thanks for your prayers and support.

Yes Lord

The hardest words for a Christian to say are, "Yes, Lord." It means that we truly want God's will to be done and not ours. Yet, speaking for myself, I have argued and even pleaded with the Lord for the lives of friends and relatives over these many years of ministry.

Can we do this? Yes, of course, Jesus did it in the Garden before His crucifixion, saying, "Father , if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Thine be done" (Luke 22.42).

The Lord our God is our heavenly Father. Jesus taught us that, and we can ask anything of Him. We can plead with Him, and we can speak our desire to Him as a child. But, when he says, "No," we by faith must say, "Yes, Lord."

I think of King Hezekiah. He became morally ill, and Isaiah came to him and told him that he was going to die. "Then (Hezekiah) turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord..., and God answered that "I will heal you" (2 Kings 20.1-5).

God added 15 years to his life, but they were the most miserable years that he lived. So, it is that we must consider the reality that God may take some of us to spare us.

These things are hard to understand, but just like the suffering of our Lord Jesus, what often seems awful to us, like Jesus' crucifixion, in God's providential reality is good.

Take courage brethren, God is never done with us, and if we persevere in faith "he is a rewarder of those who seek Him" (Heb.11.6).
