In Memory of Our Sisters Loretta & Linda

For the first time in the 30 year history of NHCF we've had two of our members pass away in the same month. We are saddened that Loretta Stumbaugh and Linda Bramble have passed, but it is our joy that they are home in heaven with Jesus. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Jerry and Billy, and we are praying for you both as you make life adjustments. We do rejoice that the many who have been sick are recovering, and we continue in faith, praying and trusting God.

Movie Night

Friday night we held our first "Movie Night" of the year. We watched "Do You Believe?" a moving film that re-minds us that true belief requires action. Yes, there are good, clean and inspiring movies out there. Go to the movies with us the second Friday of each month.

The Awe Of God

This lecture will be presented Wednesday night, January 19th, at the Hampton Inn; 7 - 8:30 pm. It's sponsored by the Arizona Origin Science Association, a group of people promoting "creation science" as opposed to evolution. It's free, and you'll be inspired.

Celebration of Human Life

Linden Hills Family Fellowship had to cancel their celebration of life gathering tonight. We are sorry, but it doesn't change the fact that today is designated across our nation as the time to celebrate human life in the womb.

Yes, the human fetus is a person, alive and deserving

of our respect.

Caring And Sharing

Do you care? "Well, about what?" you may ask. We can care about keeping ourselves going, or about the "state of the union," or about taxes, etc., but do we care about people?

The well-known verse, John 3.16, actually says, "For God so cared for the world that He gave His only begotten Son...." That's the form of "love" used here. Caring means giving of ourselves.

Jesus gave it all. That doesn't mean that we have to be martyrs, although that's a possibility, but it does mean that we should be willing to "bear one another's burdens" (Gal.6.2). And, we do this with "sanctified common sense."

If somebody is ill with the Covid, we shouldn't visit them at home, but we can leave a meal on their front porch.

A phone call, in time, to ask how a brother or sister is doing is caring, but we get so caught up with our own stuff that time passes and people are forgotten.

This is probably why James, our Lord's half brother, wrote: "This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world" (James. 1.27). Orphans and widows were at the bottom of the totem pole in Hebrew culture.

In a sense, it's like cleaning out your garage; you never really get around to it. Yet, if we discipline ourselves to clean out one or two items a week, in time, the job is done. It's like caring for others.

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord...If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men" (Rom.12.10,11,18).
