Valentine's Banquet

We will have an after church Valentine's Banquet on Sunday, February 13th. It will be a planned potluck. Please sign up on the clipboard in the Commons. Besides the dinner we'll have some party favors and entertainment. Reserve the date and be "our Valentine."

The Awe Of God

This last Wednesday the Arizona Origin Science Association held a lecture at the Hampton Inn. It was well attended, and the information from a creationist viewpoint was interesting and valuable. Thanks to Michael Calcagno for hosting this event. He can be contacted at 503-476-2300.

Celebration of Human Life

We continue to celebrate human life today:

"National Celebration of Life."

It is imperative that we believers are committed to

preserving human life in the womb. Roe vs. Wade, the landmark decision of the Supreme Court that opened the door to abortion on demand, was passed on January 22, 1973. Since then, 50 million viable, human babies have been sacrificed.

A Future and A Hope

God's church in the White Mountains has been under the pall of sickness for weeks now, and we're all getting worn out. At times like this, we tend to get cynical, wondering who'll be sidelined next, or even taken home.

Well, let's remember God's words through Jeremiah, the prophet: "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope'" (Jer. 29.11). Yes, God is for us, and we can depend on Him in the midst of our struggles. "If God is for us, who is against us" (Rom.8.31)?

It's the nature of man to doubt, but it's the promises of God to believers to take heart, have faith, that lift us up. So it has been down through Christian history...through wars, and persecutions, sickness and tribulation that we have overcome.

We have been born again (John 3.3). Our life is being renewed daily, and we have confidence in Him. "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith" (1 Jn.5.4).

You may not feel that you have the victory, especially if you're sick, but then again, each year that's been added to your life is a testimony to your soul.

Have you been sick before? Yes, and in some cases, deathly sick, but you came through it? Yes?

This time that we're in now is a test. Having faith and overcoming our adversities is our part in a program that goes back to Adam. Remember: "We have the mind of Christ," and He bore our sins upon Himself that we should have life and have that abundantly (1 Cor.2.16; John 10.10).). Praise be to God!
