Welcome Del Lewis, Gideon

We're happy to have Del Lewis presenting today for the Gideons. The Gideons have been placing Bibles in motels, in schools, in the military and to first responders since 1899.

The Church Doorbell.

That's right. We have a front doorbell. Why? Because the Church Security Team feels our church doors need to be locked while NHCF people are in the building.

Ring the bell for entry.

Valentine’s Potluck.

Save Sunday, February 14th, after church for our annual Valentines potluck. That's right. The "Day of Hearts" is here again, and it's appropriate that we remember this time, since "God is love" (1 Jn. 4.8,16)

Our Prayer Chain

Thanks to Loretta Stumbaugh for managing our Prayer Chain, and for your prayers. When Loretta texts out requests, you don't need to answer... please just pray right then.

Transitional Housing.

Many thanks to those who have volunteered their time and given materials for the remodeling of the on campus house. It looks great! Drive by and take a look at the site location at 27th Place, across from Hatch Toyota, on the way to the Show Low Block Plant. The Coalition is encouraging churches, businesses and individuals to give to this worthwhile project. Ask Lee Copeland or Roger Brown for a brochure. Thanks.

Abiding In Christ

Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you" (John 15.7). This sounds like the ultimate giveaway. "Whatever?" That's almost too good to be true, yet, in our enthusiasm for the gift, we miss the abiding.

If Jesus' words abide in us, then all else is available. He told us that "a branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine" (15.4). That's the point. In Christ...all things are possible (Phil.4.13). He's the source; He's the power of our living. Given today's world of unexpected surprises and unwanted outcomes, we need to all the more "abide in Christ."

How does this happen? Well, let's start by reading His Word. "Thy Word I have hidden in my heart that I may not sin against Thee" (Ps.119.11). It continues in prayer, even "praying without ceasing," and it adds life and liberty to us when we "walk by faith" (1 Thess.5.17; 2 Cor.5.7).

"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Cor. 10.13). Do things look bleak to you? Then it's time for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit, who has been promised to us who believe and ask (Luke 11.13). He is our advocate, our counselor, our helper. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly and be spiritually energized.  "Thy Word is truth"...and power...and the life.
