In Memory of Our Sisters Loretta &Linda

For the first time in the 30 year history of NHCF we've had two of our members pass away in the same month. We are saddened that Loretta Stumbaugh and Linda Bramble have passed, but it is our joy that they are home in heaven with Jesus. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Jerry and Billy, and we are praying for you both as you make life adjustments. We do rejoice that the many who have been sick are recovering, and we continue in faith, praying and trusting God.

Loretta's Memorial

We will have a memorial service for our sister, Loretta Stumbaugh, on Saturday, January 15th at 2:30 pm. in our church. Jerry has asked that in lieu of flowers that we give donations to the local humane society.

Movie Night

Starting this Friday night, at 6:00 pm, we will have our first "Movie Night" of the year. Successive movie nights will take place on the second Friday of each month. This is a perfect time to invite your friends and neighbors to church. The movies shown have Christian themes and lift up what is good, and right and true.

Celebration of Human Life

This coming Sunday evening at 5:30 pm we will be joining with Linden Hills Family Fellowship, at their church, and many other churches around our nation to celebrate human life in the womb. This is to counter Roe vs. Wade the Supreme Court Decision of January 22, 1973 that legalized abortion on demand.

Weathering the Storm

We're in the midst of a spiritual storm. It may look like it's physical with disease, pestilence, war and lawlessness, but it's really spiritual. In this context, we must not lose heart; we must continue in faith and let "the joy of the Lord be our strength" (Neh,8.10; John 15.11).

Jesus told us that in the last days, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes...and at that time many will fall away...and Lawlessness will increase..." (Matt.24.7-12). So, as things unravel, should we stay home and pull the covers over our heads? No! Of course not. Why? Because Jesus calls us to faith; He calls us to occupy until He comes; He says, "But the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved" (24.13).

We weather the earthly storms by bundling up, by driving with care, by storing supplies, by cutting and stacking wood; should we not make a similar preparation for spiritual tribulation? We need to be prayed up, filled up with the Holy Spirit, abiding in God's Word, and worshiping our Lord God with love and thanksgiving. Such will carry us through the trials that we face.

Yes, there's a storm coming. The weather will inevitably turn nasty, but we don't have to be afraid. We can bear the burden in the strength of the Lord (Ephes. 6.10). May the new year come, and may we be found faithful.
