Growth Progress

We have removed 600 cubic yards of earth from the South end of our building and added it to the base of our new parking lot. The parking lot will soon be finished with a stable surface of ABC and gravel. Now, the end of our building is ready for the addition of 30' x 40', which is now in architectural planning and design. Keep praying.

There'll be a graveside memorial service for Mary Linch, a former member of NHCF, at Show Low Cemetery, 10:00 am, this coming Saturday, July 23rd.

Tent Revival

The annual Tent Revival meeting will be held in Vernon at the JESUS sign on State Highway 60 this coming August 21 - 28. It is a cooperative effort of several local churches.

Church Membership

We've been asked how one becomes a member of NHCF. There's one basic requirement: that you've received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Jesus said, "...You must be born again" (John 3.7). The new birth is from above, and it is a spiritual recreation. "Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Cor.5.17). Being "born again" and being a regular attender at NHCF makes you a member of this body.

Who's Right?

Have you ever wondered about who's right in any given conflict or social interaction? I guess that's the reason we have courts to decide cases for or against the offending parties. There's a jury of our fellow citizens who hear the case and come to a verdict.

Without going to court, and for us living our daily lives on the street, it's harder to identify "rightness." in the midst of conflict. The reason being that each side will tenaciously hang on to his or her position.

Jesus said some valuable things about this human tendency. Jesus said, "Whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone wants to sue you, and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. And whoever shall force you to go one mile, go with him two" (Matt.5.39-41).

To live the Christian life fully we need to move away from being right. Now, we need to start being humble and willing to concede to another. We don't always have to be winners.

God tells us that we're "the righteousness of Christ" (2 Cor.5.21). You can't be more right than that, and besides, "if God is for us, who is against us" (Rom.8.31)?

You may ask, "But, what about doctrine? What about those who move away from sound doctrine and are wrong?" Yes, that can be a problem, but in God's economy it's not for us to accuse them. God is the judge, and our role is always that of "speaking the truth in love," not defeating them (Matt.7.1-3; Ephes. 4.15).

We like being right, just as we like winning at court, but small arguments with family, or friends, even in the church, do not build lasting relationships. "Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins (wrongness). Be hospitable to one another without complaint"

(1 Peter.4.8-9).
