Things are moving along. PTL! The new parking lot has been staked for grade, and we are receiving two bids for its completion. We have evaluated removing approximately 240 yards of fill from the south end of our building for transfer to the new parking lot. This will also open the area for the new addition. Concurrently, we have an architect who will do our addition plans at a reasonable price. Keep praying.
Thanks to the crew from TLC, under Pastor Jim's leader-ship, who cut the weeds in our church lot and cleaned up the debris. Pray for these special people, who are learning to become overcomers.
Please be aware that NHCF supports ten (10) missions: The Risley Family Ministries in Mexico; Jon and Tina Thomas at Wycliffe; Salvation Army, Show Low; The Living Hope Women's Centers; The Christian Community Outreach; the American Indian Christian Mission; the Navajo Christian Foundation; the White Mountain Coalition Against Homelessness; The All Nations House of Prayer, and the Jail Ministry. We make a monthly contribution to each of these Christian efforts, and we periodically give special gifts as the Lord blesses us.
We want to know each other. See Lora Slater and Kate Hilton about getting a name tag. You are important to us, but we are currently experiencing a "new person" overload, so, forgive our slower uptake. We need each other, helping each other, getting to know each other. Thanks.
Everything is worship. What? How can that be? Well, think about it. For the believer, just getting up in the morning brings gratitude for another day. Opening the curtains and meeting the sunshine, and the greenery, and the wet earth, after our rains, gives rise to praise in our hearts to God. Like the Scripture says, "In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess.5.18).
I suppose that those who are non-believers, and those who trouble over the trials of life, are not too worshipful. Yet, even these find moments of rejoicing when things go well. Isn't that worship? The guy who just won the lottery, and he's dancing for joy, may not know that he's worshiping, but he is.
We often get off track when we come to church to enjoy the fellowship, like the music, hear the sermon and have a parting snack before going home. Why are we here at church? To worship. To worship God our Father and the Lord Christ, who love us and have given us forgiveness and eternal life.
Jesus said, "You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only" (Luke 4.8; Deut.6.13).
I rejoice in Matt Redman's song, "The Heart of Worship." The lyric goes, "I'm coming back to the heart of worship, and it's all about You. It's all about You...Jesus." Yes, coming to church is all about Jesus. He has saved us from the power and penalty of sin, and He has given us the promise of the Holy Spirit, who guides us daily. Praise the Lord!
Don't trouble yourself about how to worship; just worship. Let the gladness in your heart for Jesus well up and overflow into praise and song and the abiding word of Christ, spoken in trusting faith.
