Growth

We're sorry for any inconvenience that you have experienced as NHCF grows. We're trying to work on the parking and chapel seating. The problem is two-fold: 1) There's a lot of planning and front end work that has to happen, and 2) Our plans have to be approved by Navajo County and Timber Mesa Fire. Please be patient and prayerful as God leads us through this time.

Jail Visits

We have been invited back into the Navajo County Jail as volunteers after a long Covid hiatus. We have gone through volunteer training again, and those who have applied will be ministering to

Inmates starting on June 1st.

KEEP PRAYING FOR GOD’S REVIVAL FIRE TO FALL UPON THE CHURCHRCHES IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS.

The Parking Lot and The Addition

We are making progress on our current church projects. The new parking lot has been brushed (Thanks men!), and the driveway culverts have been installed. We've been meeting and negotiating with Navajo County and Timber Mesa Fire about our addition. Timber Mesa Fire has given us a pass...PTL! But, Navajo County is calling for a meeting with the County Planner. Keep praying.

Movie Night

We met for another movie night Friday. It was great. These are "faith based" films that inspire Christian living. You need to come and join us. There will be another film shown this Friday at 6:00 pm, and we'll be showing two films a month through the summer.

Pentecost

This is Pentecost Sunday. It's the birthday of Jesus' church, and we should have a joyful enthusiasm about the day. Yet, this "day of power" is often ignored or passed over by believers because we're put-off or confused about the meaning.

Well, first of all, Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit is a predominant theme in the Scriptures. It's not something to be easily set aside. If we believe the Scriptures, then we must believe that Jesus "baptizes in the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 3.11; John 1.33). What this means is in constant debate among Christians, but it shouldn't be.

Should a "born again," "water baptized" believer in Jesus Christ speak in tongues as we read in Acts 2? Well, yes and no, and I'm not looking to bring a

spirit of disagreement here, but understand that there's the miracle of tongues, where the believer speaks a known language, understood by others, but not known by him, and there's "glossolalia" (a prayer language) which only edifies the speaker. I've heard a lot of glossolalia in my time, but never the miracle.

"The power" is of God, not the individual.

Read what Paul wrote to the New Testament Church in 1 Cor. 12 and 14. He said in summary: Not all speak in tongues; tongues speaking edifies the individual but prophecy (speaking the Word of God in a known language) edifies the church; let all things be done in order. You see, the Corinthian church had made tongues speaking a mark of superiority. They had also become disruptive in worship by rattling off "ecstatic utterances" which were not understood in plain language, nor were they interpreted.

Always keep in mind that after much writing about "tongues speaking," Paul writes, "And I show you a still more excellent way. If I speak with the tongues of men and angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal" (1 Cor.12.31-13.1).

We don't want to be "noisy gongs" in worship, and if you feel led to speak in tongues, good, but make sure that there's an interpretation.

Please remember that the mark of a Christian is not "tongues speaking," but rather, it's the love of Christ in us; however, if you speak in tongues, hallelujah! If you don't, hallelujah! Why? Because we believers have all been gifted in Christ according to the will of God that His church can be blessed.
