Transitional Housing Yard Sale
The Transitional Housing Yard sale was a big success. Thanks to all who served and contributed to this effort. So far, over $3,000 was raised. Keep praying the advance to constructing the first tiny houses. The new water and sewer lines are laid, and the electrical, underground conduits are next. Forming and pouring the first two concrete slabs is getting close. Pray.
We had 46 members from our three Shepherding Groups attend our joint meeting last Wednesday. We prayed together and shared our group experiences. Pastor Tom gave a devotional on "the Church," and we had communion. Please consider joining one of our groups: Pastor Tom and Terry Lowry; Chris Lewis and Lee Copeland, and Roger Brown and Pastor Jim.
A "Preparedness Handbook" is available at the back of our chapel for those who are interested. Given the current events that are troubling our nation, we recommend that each of us do some storage of food and necessities. Preparing for emergencies is a good idea generally, and in light of long term shortages, we're wise to stock up now.
If you haven't noticed...we're growing. This means that we need a vision for the future. We've already expanded our parking lot, and we're in the process of modifying our building space as the need arises. Plans tentatively exist for a new chapel, and we could be going to two worship services in the near future. All of these things weigh upon our leadership because we don't want to miss God. Please pray with us.
We all want to know. We want to know what we should do in any given time and space. As if knowing would give us an edge on life. Well, Eve wanted to "know" also, and she ate from the tree of knowledge (Gen.3.1ff). It got her kicked out of the garden of Eden along with Adam (3.24).
The lady, Nazi officer in the Indiana Jones movie "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (2008) wanted to know, and the alien incinerated her. Nicolas Cage wanted to know in the movie "Knowing," and when he did, it was a morbid burden that ended in his death. (2009).
So "knowing" is not always a good idea, but then again, "Ignorance is not always bliss," especially when it comes to sin.
Jesus said, "If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8.31c, 32). The Lord's saying that truth is known in His Word. "Yes," we say, "We agree with that." But wait a minute, the truth got Eve, and the lady Nazi, and Nicholas Cage, and thousands of others caught up in the desire to know that led to death.
The good news is that Jesus' Word as the truth does set us free. It sets us free from the power and penalty of sin. When we "know" His Word, we repent, are baptized in the name of Jesus, forgiven our sins, and filled with the Holy Spirit
(Acts 2.38).
"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 Jn.5.13).

"And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common..."(Acts 2.44)
