There's a real revival going on among college students at Asbury College in Kentucky. The same is happening at the University of Georgia, Texas Tech and Iowa State College. Pray for them; the students are rejecting the "woke" curriculums and seeking God.
Our Easter Choir is practicing after church worship each Sunday now until Easter. Please consider joining them. Giving your voice to song is one way of serving the Lord, who "dwells in the praises of His people."
Yes, winter storms have shut down some of our church meetings. Don't get discouraged. We try to keep you in-formed as to meeting statuses. Be wise and safe by all means, but marginal weather should not keep you from church.
Training sessions this week: Monday, 3/6, 1-3 pm and Friday, 3/10, 9-11 am. Attend one. Most are going to the Friday training. Meet in the jail lobby
The new addition will cost upwards of $180,000. Thanks to many, dedicated NHCF people, we have a large percentage of that amount saved; however, your prayerful support is needed along the way to complete it. Designate your gift to "the building fund."
DONATE TO THE NHCF Building Fund; the project is on the way!
Thanks.
Yes, it's a long winter, and we're all getting worn out with the cold and inconvenience, but remember the many open winters that we've had. These winters resulted in vicious fire seasons. Better to have winter snow, than a burning forest in the summer.
So, is that our plight to have to choose between snow and fire? Well, not really, because we can't choose. We get what the weather cycles bring as God has ordained, but this doesn't keep us from praying for rain and sun in the seasons needed. God hears us, and just like Elijah's weather prayers for rain, God answers (1 kgs.17-18; James 5.17,18).
We used to have a better mind for this "weather tension" when our people were farmers. We were more religious too. For our crops depended upon favorable weather.
Solomon writes: "If the clouds are full, they pour out rain upon the earth; and whether a tree falls toward the south or toward the north, wherever the tree falls, there it lies. He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap" (Eccles.11.3,4). In other words, if we trouble over the natural processes around us, we'll not get much done.
Faith demands action even in the worst weather (James 2.26).
Take courage, believer, God's magnificent order is working, and whether it be snow or fire, the leaves will still come out on the trees in the spring, and the grasses will rise from the fields in the summer. Our God is able.
