Church Safety Meeting. TOMORROW, 5-15-23 @ 3:30pm
The new church addition is going up. PTL! And, as it goes up so do the costs of construction. You may have noticed the "Giving Thermometer" in our entryway. Thanks so much for all that you've given to this point. We as a church are grateful. Now, each of us need to prayerfully consider raising the thermometer with our contributions. God Bless.
Our church body is invited to go out into the new addition through the kitchen door and take up a marker and write a Scripture on the inside wall. Your choice..."All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable to teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness" (12 Tim.3.16).
Please remember to add a Shepherding Group to your weekly schedule. On Wednesday evenings we have three groups meeting: one at church, taught by Pastor Tom; one at Roger Brown's, taught by Pastor Jim, and one out in Bourdon Ranch, taught by Lee Copeland. We pray together, study God's Word and have fellowship.
There's much ta-do about how the American family is being stressed out of existence. I don't think so. We've got to stop believing the media news, which, from my point of view, is spun and unreliable.
Margaret and I attend our grandsons' little league ball games. There are plenty of active families there supporting their children. Yes, moms and dads, and grandparents too, all as families. Is this unusual or unique to Show Low? No. This is happening across the nation. Millions of families are intact living their lives by God's standards, whether they know it or not.
Likewise, you should see the crowds of parents at school events. It's standing room only. Again, this is a fact across our nation. The problem for us is that the media news keeps showing us the abnormal and sensational clips of a small number of people, and we like a bunch of sheep, keep lowering our flags to half mast, as if the shooting of innocent people, in isolated events, was the norm.
Jesus warned us that there'd be false prophets (news commentators?), and deceivers (corrupt politicians?), and days of tribulation (shooters and looters?) (Matt.24.11,21, 24). But, our Lord encouraged us to "endure to the end," and Paul later echoed this saying: "We exult in our tribulations knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character and proven character, hope" (Rom.5.3,4). We're not "disappointed," nor cast down, nor defeated" because "the love of God is in our hearts."
Families are a fundamental reality of God's creation. We see His creative pattern throughout the earth. Whether families at Little League ball games, or wolves in their packs, or goslings paddling after their goose parents, it all testifies to an enduring truth: families are here to stay.
