SAFTEY MEETING, TOMORROW, 5/16/22 ,3:30, at our church
Each year the Living Hope Women's Centers has a fund raising drive between Mother's and Father's Days. They are one of our designated missions. Take a baby bottle and fill it with loose change. Return it to our church, and we'll deliver them. Thxs.
We have been invited back into the Navajo County Jail as volunteers after a long Covid hi-atus. We have gone through volunteer training again, and those who have applied will begin ministering to inmates this coming week.
Navajo County Board of Supervisors granted WMCAH a $100K grant from government funds designed to assist in combating homelessness. We can praise the Lord! He is answering our prayers as we forge ahead to get the transitional housing site built.
WE WILL BE BRUSHING AND PREPPING THE NEW CHURCH PROPERTY ACROSS THE STREET AS A PARKING LOT THIS FIRDAY AND SATURDAY.
MAY 20 AND 21ST. WE WILL START AT 9:00 am.
BRING CHAINSAWS, ELECTRIC SAWS AND ANY TOOLS YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH IN REMOVING TREES.
What is the Church? Yes, we know it can be a recognizable building a steeple and cross, or a group of people one day a week, or an organization involved in religious work...but, what did Jesus have in mind? That is the real question.
Jesus said...“I will build my church” (Matt. 16.18). Was our Lord talking about brick and mortar? I doubt it. He was talking about the expansion of the model he’d established with himself and his twelve disciples. They represent a microcosm of what his church should be. What did they do? Well, they shared their lives together with Jesus; they joined with him in ministry; they received his teaching; they most certainly prayed together, and they went forth with his gospel message in the Spirit.
That model is repeated in the Acts church, where, “All those who have believed where together, and had all things in common…”(Acts 2.44). We can be assured that Jesus’ church continued through that generation, but as the apostles passed away and the original converts joined them in glory, those who remained drifted.
We have been drifting ever since.
Jesus’ church is not a building; It’s not a group of people who opinion their religious views; It is not an organization or a denomination. Jesus’ church is very literally his body composed of “born again” believers (1 Cor. 12.27; John 3.3).
Does it still exist today? Yes. As the Apostle Paul writes: “And coming to him as to living stone, rejected by men, but chosen and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2.4,5).
