Transitional Housing

The project is coming along; however, the excavation work has been hampered by hard rock formations. We need more backhoe operators and equipment, and volunteers to finish the grid of pipes and conduit necessary to service the site. A praise: we have sponsors for two of the tiny houses. Keep praying.

Church Storage

We're adding a storage shed behind our church building. Please consider being part of the “sorting/organizing committee” that will move existing church items, decorations and other brick-a-brack to the new unit. There’s a clip board sign-up. See Lora or Suzanne to sign-up.

Praying About NHCF Growth

If you haven't noticed...we're growing. This means that we need a vision for the future. We've already expanded our parking lot, and we're in the process of modifying our building space as the need arises. Plans tentatively exist for a new chapel, and we could be going to two worship services in the near future. All of these things weigh upon our leadership because we don't want to miss God. Please pray with us.

Congratulations to David and Kristen Seevers who are renewing their wedding vows today.

Shepherding Groups

Join a Shepherding Group. They all meet on Wednesdays. Pastor Tom's group meets at our church at 6:00 pm, and they are studying Ephesians. Roger Brown's group meets at his house at 5:30 pm, and they are studying discipleship, and the Lewis / Copeland group meets at 5:30 pm at the Lewis' home, and they are studying Paul's letters.

Christian Marriage

There's marriage, and then there's Christian marriage. What 's the difference? The difference is what a couple does with God.

A civil marriage is given credibility by the authority of the state, and there are marriages that are also sanctioned by maritime authority, or military authority, and so on. And eve n though any formalization of a man and woman being together as husband and wife is better than none, a marriage without God is a worldly enterprise.

Now, some will say that even Christians, who are married under God's sovereign authority, get divorced. True, and the fact grieves my heart. Yet, we must remember that marriage assurance is much like faith. Who have you put your trust in for a lasting marriage...your civil authority, your church, your preacher, your spouse?

When marriages of all brands are dissolved for "irreconcilable differences" I cannot help but think of faith being misplaced in people: that's what's happened with Bill and Melinda Gates.

Jesus didn't say much about marriage, but what He did say clearly named God as the authority.

A Christian marriage is based on a couple being equally yoked in Christ (2 Cor.6.14). It's based upon a genuine reverence for God and a desire to please Him in all that we do. He is the third partner in our marriage, and His presence in the Spirit sustains us.
