This past week the WMCAH board members met with the City of Show Low personnel in their various capacities to discover what will be required in the layout and construction of our site. They set the bar high, perhaps too high. Now, it's a matter of complying with requirements and formulating a plan. Your prayers are appreciated, and especially pray for the needed finances to complete the project.
Your church leadership is working on a "Master Plan" for the further development of our church ministry. Key to the plan is a new, larger chapel to be added to the north end of our building. The current chapel would become a fellowship hall and classrooms. What do you think?
This coming Sunday, November 8th we're having a "birthday potluck right after church. It’s Margaret's birthday and Terry's is Monday. Loretta suggested that we bring cold weather faire, like soups and stews.
Thanks be to God for these two, fine people.
PRAY...PRAY...PRAY THAT THIS ELECTION WILL PROCEED NORMALLY WITHOUT CHEATING, DECEPTION OR VIOLENCE. AMEN.
We people are constantly interacting with the days and the events around us. The news media makes hay off of these reactions and turns of events. There's no such thing as a "slow news" day as long as you have angry and stressed out people.
We had our first snow this past week, hitting us after the previous 80 degree day. Strange. Today is "All Saints Day," which follows "All Hallows Eve," or Halloween. There were few trick-o-treaters this year because of the virus, another strange thing. Then Tuesday, we vote for president and a whole bunch of representatives and senators. Does all this stuff really matter? I mean, over time the riots and the celebrations and even the voting fade into history. Life goes on.
To some it's all important, but to others like myself, it's the ongoing human drama..."full of sound and fury signifying nothing" (Shakespeare; McBeth).
I like what Solomon had to say: "Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting; to eat, to drink and to enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward" (Eccles.5.18). Yes, Solomon is a bit morbid yet, the news of the day confirms his words.
Okay, so we've had our first snow, we've got past Halloween, and the election is staring us in the face. Some say it will be "the most important election in the history of our nation." Really? More important than the election is our state of mind. As Peter, Paul and Mary sang: "Win or lose now, you must choose now...." Choose what? Choose to continue in faith.
