Biblical wisdom not only means to prepare for the Lord's return, but it also means to store up supplies to occupy until He comes. Please con-sider storing up some basics, like water, paper goods, canned goods, some dry goods, fuel and medications. The times we're in demand it.
Next Sunday evening, at 6:00 pm, we'll join with other churches and organizations to celebrate the Fast of Compassion. This is a time to rejoice in the good that comes from this event and to affirm one another as a community who cares. There will be testimonies, videos, musical numbers and an inspirational message.
Kate Hilton and Janet Gallup are inviting you to come and sing in a Christmas Choir and participate in the program. They ‘ll be rehearsing after church each Sunday.
Your church board has felt led to tithe $20K to the missions that we support, dividing the funds among them as a special Christmas offering. Your faithful giving and your generosity has made this possible. Thanks.
Please consider lending your help to the Salvation Army. They need “Advisory Board” members, who meet once a month and guide the Army’s community work and fund raising events. Also, needed are site workers, who organize and manage food and clothing resources. Thank you.
Believers, although appreciative of the many blessings that we have, are prone to get discouraged and faint-hearted when under tribulation.
No doubt that our individual situations can deteriorate to the point of depression, but at the same time, we take courage that "although our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison" (2 Cor.4.16-17). Amen!
The challenge for us is to keep the "joy of the Lord" in the midst of trials.
Jesus said, "...that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full" (John 15.11). Nehemiah says: "Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength" (Neh. 8.10).
Yes, God's presence and His joy is our strength, but I have to receive it. Therein is the problem. For we get down in dumps, and we don't even want to try. That's the exact point that we need to want to receive God's goodness and His joy. At that point, we need to receive what He's already promised us as His children...salvation of body, soul and spirit.
To make it simple..."What do you think?" Do you think that your situation is impossible and incurable, or do you believe God at His Word that "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it" (John 14.13,14).
Our faith in God is not just for fair weather; it's for any weather that we find ourselves in, and when it storms on us, we lift our hands to heaven and praise God for His attending grace in the midst of our trials.
