REMEMBER TO PREP

Biblical wisdom not only means to prepare for the Lord's return, but it also means to store up supplies to occupy until He comes. Please con-sider storing up some basics, like water, paper goods, canned goods, some dry goods, fuel and medications. The times we're in demand it.

The Community Fast of Compassion

Today begins the annual "Community Fast of Compassion." It will continue through next Saturday, During this time we're asking you to fast one or two meals and contribute the money saved to the Fast. All funds received go directly to meeting the needs of others during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

There is no overhead; it's a purely volunteer effort. Your gifts are distributed across all the schools, including private and charter, and to the helping agencies, like Salvation Army, and service agencies like the VFW and Elk's Lodge. We trust them to direct the funds where they are needed. Thanks.

Christmas Choir and Program

Kate Hilton and Janet Gallup are inviting you to come and sing in a Christmas Choir and participate in the program. They ‘ll be rehearsing after church each Sunday.

Our Summer Visitors

As we say "Goodbye" to our summer visitors, we need to remember to keep praying for them through the winter. We remember the Sheltons, the Henrys, the Glovers, the Davises, Chris Popke, Grace Ames, Elgie and Janey Burleson, and those moved and away, the Mascolos, the Jacobsons, and Cliff Dyrud.

SALVATION ARMY Needs Volunteers & BELL RINGERS!!

Please consider lending your help to the Salvation Army. They need “Advisory Board” members, who meet once a month and guide the Army’s community work and fund raising events. Also, needed are site workers, who organize and manage food and clothing resources. Thank you.

Spiritual Discipline

When we think about discipline, we probably think about punishment. That's the way we learned it at home when our parents whipped our bottoms or sent us to our room. But, there's an upside to discipline. We know that too as practicing good nutrition, getting exercise, and doing what's right.

Behind all discipline there's always a spiritual dimension. There's a "still small voice" speaking to our conscious mind, saying, "You'd better do this." For the believer, it's a Holy Spirit direction, and for the unbeliever it's conscience.

This "spiritual sense" is present in all people because we are made in the "spiritual" image of God. As sure as the laws of physics, a sense of right and wrong is with us.

This is not a "Jimminy Cricket" action of "let your conscience be your guide," although that's good in itself. Neither is it a fear of punishment. No, it's a discipline of love.

Just as we loved our parents and behaved well because we didn't want to disappoint them, nor hurt them, so we love God and seek to please Him as our heavenly Father.

"Above all, keep fervent on your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Pt.4.8).
