A Note to New People

We want to get to know you. Please fill out a visitor card (located on the table as you walk in the door) from Lora Slater, and we'll make you a name tag.

Building Fund

Yes, we have a building fund. You can give to it by designating your gift to the "building fund." We've been paying for the current construction out of this fund. Heavy expenses are coming as we begin construction of the addition. Your prayers, and your gifts are much appreciated. Thanks.

BIRTHDAY POTLUCK COMING UP SOON!

A potluck in honor of Juanita Anderson and her 80th birthday will be held right after church on Sunday, October 30th.

Be praying for the November elections that God’s will and presence will be known.

Fall Color

The fall colors are beautiful. Have you given praise to God for such a wonderful treat from nature? And, have you given Him praise that you can see in color at all?

Your dog and cat and many other animals are color blind. How do we know? Because the color receptors in our eyes, called cones, are absent or few in these animals. It's another miracle that God gave us color vision. But, the mystery doesn’t stop there. Why would He create a world full of color unless He wanted us to see it?

The tree leaves, the flowers, the plumage of the birds, and the covering of insects, the sky, sea and mountain panoramas, all testify to the creative genius and power of our God. When Jesus teaches us to pray "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," He gives us, not only a rule for God's righteousness, but He gives us a hope for the beauty of a heaven to be gained (Matt, 6.10).

Those who relate a "near death experience," to a person, share how the realm they visited (heaven, we assume) was alive with the most glorious colors imaginable. Likewise, with an angelic appearance, there's the brilliant, white light of heaven. It's the most refined and beautiful of all colors for white light, when divided in a prism, contains all the colors.

The church over the ages has been particularly mindful of colors, perhaps more by instinct than by reason. The liturgical color from Pentecost into the fall and to Advent is green. It testifies to life, hope and anticipation, and it reminds us of the growing season.

So, what's your color? Think about it. The spectrum runs from red to blue. Are you red-hot most of the time, or, are you cool blue. Maybe you're somewhere in between. In any case, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Matt.5.16).
