November 12th—November 18th
This is a citywide community fast.
This is to help people all around us and to schools in need.
It seems so very dark, but I see a lighthouse high on a rocky hill, in the distance. A light shining brightly ahead of the silhouette of a man. Blindly, he stumbles as he hastily walks alone. His feet are aching as he stammers along the rocks and crevasses, catching himself before he falls. The light is so bright he cannot see the path at his feet, until he looks, with the lamp in his hand, at his feet and concentrates on the trail… but the light is bright, and he must look up from time to time to know he’s still on the right path. Toward the Light.
Finally, as he glances behind him, he's not alone. There are a multitude of others with him, more than I can count. I find comfort looking back. It looks easier going that way, downhill. Some are going that way. Can I go that way too? NO, It’s a trap! One is drawing me, a hand brushing my shoulder drawing my attention, back to the light. Go back, climb the path, move forward, toward His light. Stay the course.
I begin to pray, “Please LORD”, direct my steps and give me strength as I walk your path, Your will, Your word, Your way. Lest I stumble. You are the Light, shine brightly the way I should go (John 14:6). I know you are with me (Josh 1:9) “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path” (Ps. 119:105 NKJV).
So eager to run the path, blindly falling away time and time again, … I stumble (Rom. 3:23) but you help me to “walk circumspectly” (Eph 5:15) and place my feet, my heart, my will in the Light. “Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever” (Psalm 119:111). “I am grafted in as your child” (John 1:12). Your word brings joy to my heart to know I have an inheritance in Your testimonies, joint heirs with Christ
(Rom. 8:17). Overcoming… (Rev. 12:10-11).
Renewed in strength, in the Word, into the Light, I see the silhouette of the man, lamp in hand, sharp rocks, deep crevasses, moving forward, on the path…
