Pastor Jim and Tami to Columbia

Pastor Jim and Tami are returning home from the Columbia

mission today. Please be praying for their safe return. They’ve texted us numerous pix of the mission. In short, we’ve seen a very green land with a poverty burdened

people, who nevertheless, as for the Christians, are alive and faith-ful in the Lord Jesus.

NEW PRAYER ROOMS

Everyone is in need of prayer, and there are times when nothing else will bring comfort. Our church has put in place two "prayer rooms" off the chapel platform at the prompting of the Spirit. At the end of our church service, as the Spirit leads you, come forward for prayer. We're here as a family to pray and care for you.

Food Storage

We now have some food storage in the new church shed.

We’re grateful to the local VFW who donated 5 gal containers of

grain, and #10 cans of freeze-dried vegetables.

We’ll soon need help in redistributing these products into smaller

sized containers.

Talk to Kathy Copeland.

Memorial Service for Tom Geffert

There will be a memorial service for Tom Geffert at the National Memorial Cemetery on Cave Creek Road., in the valley, on October 8th at 9:30 am. Jeany and the family have our prayers and deepest sympathy.

Harvest

Harvest time is something that you do not hear much about in city and suburban churches. Yet, here in the White Mountains, there are lots of garden plots, and there is a harvest going on right now. We should be grateful.

In most cultures across the world, harvest time brings special celebrations. As it was as our Pilgrim forefathers, sitting down for their first “Thanksgiving” meal, so it is with us who have planted, watered, weeded and now pick the fruit of our labor. We’re celebrating.

I harvested my potatoes last week. I planted them on Good Friday, and they were ready by Labor Day. You can depend on the timing. Not that I got several bushels of spuds, but the wheelbarrow full was enough to rejoice over.

I have equal joy over the many squash harvested, and the abundant string beans, and the turnips, carrots, Swiss chard and bumper tomato crop. Some have less enthusiasm over vegetables, but how can one stand in Safeway's’ fruit and vegetable section...or in my garden...without being thankful for God’s abundant harvest?

Our nation was far more religious when we were and agrarian population. When you farm, or garden, you depend upon God, who governs the sun, the soil, the rain and, yes, even the thistle (weed).

My bible says: “Shout joyfully to the LORD, and all the earth…Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to all generations”...and in all seasons (Psalms 100).
